The CAA is governed by a Board of Directors with 15 board member positions. The Board is responsible for electing a President, Secretary, Treasurer, four Vice-Presidents that lead committees for Government Relations, Member Services, Marketing and Research, and Conferences.
CAA professional staff includes an Executive Director that conducts the daily business of the association and a Legislative Analyst that monitors the activities of the California State Legislature and other government agencies.
The Board is assisted by several senior advisors that contribute their wisdom and experience to the board’s deliberations and that provide liaison with the University of California and other institutions in California. Another ex-officio member of the Board is the Aquaculture Coordinator from the California Department of Fish and Game. Because of the important role of the in many issues that affect aquaculture, the Coordinator plays an important role in maintaining a close relationship with the CDF&G and with the California Fish and Game Commission.
