Webinar: How to Avoid Sick Leave, Vacation, and PTO Mistakes

Courtesy of CalChamber:

While paid vacation and time off are optional in California, sick leave is not.

Employers can opt to offer vacation and paid time off (PTO) to their employees. Both are considered earned wages.

However, if you provide these benefits, California law determines how you apply them. (No “use it or lose it” allowed.)

Specific rules also apply when administering and providing California’s mandatory paid sick leave benefit.

All the while, state enforcement agencies are making wage theft violations a priority. So pay close attention or pay the price.

Avoid common uh-ohs (and oh no’s) of noncompliance when you attend this informative webinar. Topics include:

• Rules relating to vacation and PTO

• Wage-and-hour issues, including final pay

• Overview of California’s mandatory paid sick leave law and tips on compliance

• Leave interactions with FMLA/CFRA, FEHA and workers’ compensation

• Best practices, including importance of written company policies
