Final Rule: Mandatory Inspection of Siluriformes Fish and Processed Products

The United States Aquaculture Society, National Aquaculture Association, and North Central Regional Aquaculture Center are offering a free webinar covering the new U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food Safety and Inspection Service’s final rule to inspect Siluriformes fish and the food products derived from them. The webinar will introduce FSIS’s structure, food safety mission, and the implementation schedule for the new Siluriformes fish inspection program. It will also lay out the program’s major components and how they will be monitored and enforced.

Presenter: Curt Eilers works on policy and regulatory issues in relation to FSIS’s inspection programs. In March 2016, he returned from a detail at FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, International Affairs Staff, where he worked on issues involving bivalve molluscan shellfish. Curt is an Ohio native and attended law school at the University of Cincinnati, his hometown. He lived in Montana and Beijing before attending law school and worked at a civil rights law firm and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals before coming to FSIS in 2014.
