CAA A Hit at the State Fair

September 15th, 2009

CAA at the State Fair 2009CAA’s new and expanded exhibit at the California State Fair attracted hundreds of visitors.  The display was larger with new signs including a huge new banner, a large exhibit sign, and new interpretive signage, all sporting the CAA logo.

The exhibit included live fish ranging from sturgeon to crayfish.  Visitors were especially interested in the touching ponds (where some felt the pinch of a crayfish!) and the large tank of sturgeons.  Aquatic plants set the display off and gave it a more lifelike feel.

Care of the exhibit was primarily in the hands of Wade Kriletich, a marine biologist who also offered twice-daily “Fish Experience” interpretations and demonstrations.

Expansion of this year’s exhibit was a project of Theresa Winovitch of the CalExpo staff and Tony Vaught of CAA.  New signs were designed by CalExpo staff and CAA’s Executive Director.
