Devin Bartley settles into the CDFG as Aquaculture Coordinator
January 6th, 2009
After eight months on the job, Devin Bartley is settling into the position of Aquaculture Coordinator. There is no shortage of work to keep Bartley busy; the programmatic environmental impact reports on marine and inland aquaculture are being drafted, section 671 of the California Code of Regulations on farming of restricted species is being revised, invasive quagga mussels have been found in the state, shellfish leases are being revised, the Marine Life Protection Act may impact coastal aquaculture, and improvements in the way aquaculture statistics are collected are all on the agenda. Bartley said, “The support and assistance of CAA, the Aquaculture Development and Disease Committees, UC and DFG staff have been really great. It’s very good to be back in California working with these groups. Without them I wouldn’t dream of taking this on”.
